Kharkovturboengineering Ltd. (KHTE) is our subsidiary design company, specializing in the design of main power equipment and valves for hydro power plants.

Kharkovturboengineering Ltd. (KHTE), registered in 2002, unites the engineers and technicians whose high qualification is based on the years of successful work in the field of hydro power design and engineering.

KHTE issues working drafts and operational documentation for hydro turbine equipment with various parameters for a water heads range from 5 m to 500 m, and conducts comprehensive full-scale model tests of hydraulic units in its own mechanical lab, conducts equipment erection supervision and adjusting at site, places orders for equipment manufacture with the plants of Ukraine, Russia and other countries.

The Chief Designer of Kharkovturboengineering Ltd. is Igor Veremeenko, Doctor of Engeneering, Professor. From 1977 to 2003 he was a chief designer of hydraulic turbines and water seal of Turboatom JSC. Prof. Veremeenko headed more than 30 projects of hydro turbine equipment for hydro power plants in various countries. He is an author of more than 100 inventions, got 45 patents, issued several monographs and more than 120 publications.

The main areas of activity of " Kharkovturboengineering Ltd.” are:

  • According to the customer demands and specifications design and construction of the reaction hydro turbines of all types and parameters as well as the reversible hydraulic machines and various types of pre-turbine gate valves (disk, biplane, ball, embedded cylindrical) for a wide range of water heads and machine capacities.
  • Modernization of the existing out-of-date hydro turbine equipment with the use of modern technical solutions in terms of reliability, efficiency and environmental safety.
  • Existing Hydro power plant equipment survey and tests using universal measuring microprocessor systems, equipped with special software and hardware.
  • Conducting a complex of setup and startup procedures and activities during the commissioning of a new and modernized hydro turbine equipment.
  • The model tests of vertical reaction turbines of all types and reversible hydraulic machines at the test benches in Hydraulic Laboratory of the “Institute of Mechanical Engineering Problems” NAS of Ukraine, including acceptance tests in accordance with MEK60193 demands. The Laboratory has been significantly updated by the KHTE in 2003-2007.
  • Implementation of advanced scientific and technical developments and methods of mathematical and physical modeling of mechanical processes in hydro power plant for increasing of energy efficiency, reliability and competitiveness of manufactured hydro power equipment based on scientific and technological potential of KHARKOVTURBOENGINEERING Company.
  • Implementation of the field supervision of the manufacture quality at the production plants and the erection quality of the new and modernized equipment at the hydro power plants.
  • Complete service maintenance of hydro turbines and hydraulic locks at the hydro power plants under operation.
  • Placing orders for hydro turbine equipment manufacture at the production plants of Ukraine, Russia and other countries.
  • Technical support of complete supply of hydro turbine equipment with the involvement of domestic and foreign specialized companies.

The Company receives an average of about 2% of total revenue from the sale of heat. Public JSC Territorial Generating Company # 2 (TGC-2) was established by the RAO UES of Russia resolution on February 25, 2005. The Company passed the State registration procedures on April 19, 2005. The shaping principle of TGC-2 is merger with the Regional Generating Companies, which were established as a result of AO-energo reform.

TGC-2 is a leading heat and power company in the Northern and Northwest parts of Russia. The Company activities cover heat and power production as well as sale of heat (steam and hot water) to consumers. TGC-2 comprises generating capacities of 6 regions - Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kostroma, Novgorod, Tver and Yaroslavl. TGC-2 operates 15 heat CHPPs, 13 boiler-houses, 5 enterprises of heat pipelines. The aggregate installed electric capacity of TGC-2 enterprises is 2 542,5 MW, the aggregate installed thermal capacity constitutes 12 285,82 Gcal/h.

TGC-2 is functioning on heat power markets of 12 cities, 7 of which hold 95% of market realization: Vologda, Yaroslavl, Tver, Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, Novgorod, and Kostroma. In its relations with heat power consumers, TGC-2 is oriented to attainment and maintenance of balance between economic interests and observance of rules of reliable and non-stop current and perspective power supplying. Company merchandising will be based on forming the offering price no higher than heat power production expenses on own and alternative sources of customers, developing a long-term contractual relations with industrial customers that perceive flexible pricing policy, active interaction with City Administrations in order to build-up optimum channels of heat distribution for city consumers.

On the wholesale market of electric energy and power industry TGC-2 is an active participant of all its sectors: regulated market of electric energy and power, day-ahead electric energy market, balancing market of electric energy. According to 2006 data, sales portion on competitive markets (day-ahead electric energy market and balancing market of electric energy) was 7.2%. In medium-term perspective there will be continuous liberalization of the wholesome market of electric energy and increasing the portion of competitive markets, which is characterized by free price formation and choosing counterparts for power and heat delivery, and that of course will positively reflect on profitableness of company business.
